Gerardo Benito

Gerardo Benito Ferrández is a CSIC Research Professor at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid. His research focuses on flood risks, paleohydrological and historical reconstruction records, paleoclimate, as well as topics related to hydrology and soil erosion. He has served as an author for the Fifth Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the IPCC Special Report on "Managing the Risks of Extreme Events and Disasters to Advance Climate Change Adaptation." He has coordinated several European projects related to flood risks (SPHERE, WADE, and PHEFRA) and has authored over 250 publications in journals and books.
Prof. Benito is currently on working on these projects: EPHIDREAMS, ICCI, READAPT, and ITHACA.
