Dead Forest, Ibáñez river. Tree stamps submerged on ash from volcano Hudson. Aysén region, Patagonia (Chile)
Our mission
We are interested in the analysis of extreme floods in the past, and we have a long experience in
reconstructing long (several centuries and millennia) flood records through sedimentary evidence (paleofloods) and documentary records (historical floods).
Our research activity applies river geomorphology and hydrology methods to understand the effects of climate
and environmental change on hydrology, with applications to flood risk analysis, engineering infrastructures design, water-resources assessment, and hydro-climatic
change models.
How extreme floods are affected by Climate Change?
